Sharon Chiu Kent has over 30 years of experience involved in the study and
practice of Tai Chi. She was born in 1952 and grew up in Taiwan. From a young
age she was exposed to Tai Chi and Feng Shui; and early on she was intrigued
by these ancient practices. Sharon began to study Tai Chi in her late teens.
In 1975 she came to the U.S. for graduate study and then went back to Taiwan
to teach. After moving with her husband to the United States in 1979, she
continued to study Tai Chi from Master Franklin Kwan in New Jersey, and
Madame Huang in Princeton. In 1991, she started to teach Tai Chi and 18
movement Qigong, which she had learned in Taiwan. In 1993 she moved to
Pennsylvania. In 1995 she resumed teaching, and in 1998 founded the Central
Pennsylvania Qigong Association.
Motivated by her mother's struggle with cancer, Sharon also began to explore the
healing aspect of Qigong. In 1996 that exploration led her to study
Qi healing from Master T. K. Shih at the Chinese Healing Arts Center in Danbury
Connecticut. Her interest in healing inspired her to study traditional Chinese
medicine in a program of study offered by Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese
Medicine in China. This study culminated in a 3-month clinical internship at
Nanjing University during the summer of 2001, enabling her to gain hands-on
experience in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. Sharon has passed the National
Board exam in Acupuncture and is a Licensed Acupuncturist.
Sharon's dedication to promote knowledge of the concept of Qi led to the founding
of Unique Healing Solutions, a company committed to developing and introducing
Qi-enhancing products for better health and well-being.
